New Ears Were Given to the Treetops
Linnea Ogden

our own discarded as a tribe of bluebirds,

sharp as yearning, dispersed. The experience

of letting things transform completely.

More than one hundred thirty wings in the air

as our group was taught to savor

the sound of broken warbling.

I would rather bag my own game

with bullet or eyebeam.

The thrill of notifying another human.
